The 5-0 Montezuma Braves will face a 3-2 WACO team that will run and throw on Friday, Oct. 2, in Wayland.

WACO has wins over HLV, Moravia and Tri-County. The losses were one-sided, 50-10 to New London, and 42-6 to Lone Tree.

WACO has a solid athlete at quarterback in senior Will Edeker. He has rushed the ball 57 times for 350 yards and six touchdowns.

Through the air, Edeker is 27-70 for 332 yards and four touchdowns.

As a team, WACO has rushed for 751 yards, and thrown for 343.

Second leading rusher is Johan Clark at 47 carries for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

Second-leading rusher is Zach Schmitz, with at 11 carries for 199 yards and three scores.

It’s a team that can burn you with speed, especially if your defense gets lulled a bit by the running bame.

WACO is averaging 25 points a game on offense, and 28 per outing on defense.

Braves receiver Masin Shearer (3) shouts to the sideline.
