Montezuma used a four-run fifth inning to create separation, then rolled to an 8-2 victory in varsity baseball on a hot Monday afternoon, July 5.
This was a game that had been postponed earlier in the summer because of scheduling conflicts.
HLV scored a run in the first inning, but the Braves tied the score with a run in the second. Then, Montezuma scored two in the third and one in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
The four-run fifth by the Braves broke it open.
The win allowed Montezuma to tie HLV at 10-6 in the final South Iowa Cedar League standings.
The Braves finished the regular season at 11-6, while HLV is in at 11-8.
Come back here later when we’ll have individual stats and more detail.
