Braves won’t be caught looking ahead

The 4-0 Montezuma Braves football team moved up into a fifth place tie in the Associated Press Class 8 rankings this week as they prepare to host 0-4 Moravia on Friday evening, Sept. 25.

But Braves Coach Pat O’Brien isn’t looking down the line any further than Friday’s opponent, which he described as “big, and physical.”

They are a very talented football team,” O’Brien told KGRN’s Chris Varney.

The Braves are paying a lot of attention to the Mohawks’ offense.

They run a variety of things,” O’Brien said. “They run a triple option out of an I-set. You have to make sure you do your job,” the coach said.

Moravia might throw, too. “We haven’t seen a lot of passing,” O’Brien said.

That could be ahead in the playoffs, which every team will be in. But like we said, the Braves aren’t looking that far ahead.

The focus now for Montezuma is on Moravia – and themselves.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Badger-Gabriel Field.
