TAMA – Montezuma withstood South Tama’s power serving and strong net play to win the tie-breaking fifth set by a 15-13 score to take a 3-2 match victory over South Tama in their first non-tournament match of the season.
It was played on Thursday, Sept. 5, in Tama.
Scores for the Bravettes were 10-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20 and 15-3.
Montezuma was strong on defense, coming up with 82 digs in the match, including 18 by Sidnee Burgess, 15 by Lauryn Larmore, 13 each by Chloe Snook and Addyson Probasco and 10 by Kylie Larmore.
The Bravettes also served at a .909 clip, including 25-for-25 by Snook, who had three ace serves.
South Tama got 20 kills from Paisley Bro. Jeanette Cervantes served nine aces and Macy Welsch had six aces, to complement the home team’s power game.
The win lifted the Bravettes to 3-6 on the season.
