The Bravettes softball team, not deterred by a season-opening loss, bounced back with a 6-2 win over Colfax-Mingo on Wednesday evening, May 24, at home.
Pitching, hitting and defense all clicked, as the Bravettes evened their record at 1-1.
Kallie Robison pitched a seven inning complete game. She spun a five-hitter, striking out one and walking no one.
The Bravettes rapped out 11 hits, two each by Abby Pope, Madison Van Zee, Robison and Ellen Cook.
Montezuma scored single runs in the first and second innings, and two runs each in the third and fourth. Robison took a shutout into the seventh, when the Tigerhawks plated their two runs.
The Bravettes made just two errors, to three by Colfax-Mingo. That is noteworthy because Montezuma made eight errors in its opening game.
Pope went two-for-two at the plate. Jadyn Sharer had one hit and was credited with three runs batted in on the night.
Izzy Roorda smacked a double for Montezuma’s only extra base hit.
Chloe Snook had one hit and a run batted in, and Ellen Cook also drove home a run.
UP NEXT – Montezuma is home again on Friday, May 26, against HLV.
