Bravettes had the energy at S. Tama

By Megan Carlson

TAMA – Busy week? Yes, but the Bravettes’ girls track team still found the energy and desire to perform well in a big meet.

Montezuma put together scoring place finishes in seven relays, winning three of them, in a fifth-place finish in the eight-team South Tama Girls Invitational on Monday, April 28.

The first meet after Prom, an FFA Banquet, and so many other things the girls are part of is always a challenge, but the girls were able to run a few season bests.

The girls won three relays on the night and competed hard in many open events. The night started with amazing weather and a solid team run in the Sprint Med. Chloe Snook did a great job of maintaining position and fighting to put her team in the top spot.

The D-med came away with a win after a solid 3rd leg from Kami Mathes and a great anchor from Ellen Cook, who is running some of her best races this year.

The 4×200 was the other winning relay, and they improved their season-best time, despite some rocky handoffs.

Chloe and Ellen both finished 2nd in their open events, which is great to see this time of year.

The throwers continue to improve and maintain their improvements, which is huge for them and the team.

As we enter the Championship portion of the season, we need to be sharper and have an edge to us, as we want to perform at a certain level and set the tone, not relying on other teams to do it for us.

We have a chance for many great things, we just need to keep doing the little things right!
