Bravettes keep line moving in 8-3 win at L-S

SULLY – The Bravettes got the line started in the third inning and kept it moving in an 8-3 win over Lynnville-Sully in the softball season opener for both teams on Monday, May 23.

The game was scoreless through two innings. But the Bravettes plated three runs in the third, two in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead. The Hawks scored their three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Madison Van Zee led the offense and Kallie Robison keyed the defense for the Bravettes.

Van Zee had three hits, scored a run, stole a base and drove in a run for Montezuma.

Robison struck out four batters and allowed just one earned run in going all seven innings as the Bravettes’ pitcher.

Abby Pope had one hit for Montezuma and drove in a run. In all, Montezuma had seven hits, all singles.

The Bravettes worked Lynnville-Sully pitching for six walks and stole four bases.

UP NEXT – Montezuma is scheduled to play at BGM on Wednesday, May 25.
