Bravettes keep line moving in win over L-S

SULLY – The Bravettes kept their bats going and scored their first win of the season, 11-7 over Lynnville-Sully, on Tuesday, May 28.

Montezuma scored 10 runs in the first four innings to take control.

The Bravettes lined 8 hits in the game and stole six bases.

Chloe Snook was 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs batted in, a run scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Madison Van Zee was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Mya Smothers had two hits, including a triple.

Ellen Cook had a hit and scored two runs.

Kam Schmidt had one hit and drove in two.

Laila Kercheval drove in two runs.

Snook, Van Zee and Ellen Cook each were 2-for-2 on stolen bases. Smothers and Vivian Cook had one swipe each.

Starter Leah Urfer picked up the pitching win after throwing 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and two earned runs. She didn’t walk anyone and stuck out 4.

Syd Burgess worked 3 innings of relief, allowing three hits and 5 earned runs. She walked 5 and didn’t strike out a batter.

The night’s results left each team with a 1-3 record on the young season.
