MARENGO β Pitcher Kallie Robison spun a seven-inning two-hitter and Carissa Van Zee had three hits and drove in two runs as the varsity Bravettes opened their softball season with a 5-0 win over Iowa Valley.
The game was played Monday afternoon and evening, June 15.
The junior varsity also won, by a 13-0 score.
The varsity Bravettes scored a single run in the second inning and added two more in each of the fourth and fifth frames.
Van Zee, the Montezuma catcher, added a stolen base to her three-for four night at the plate.
Robison allowed a pair of singles in pitching the shutout. She struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter.
Jadyn Sharer had a hit and a stolen base for Montezuma.
Getting single hits in the Montezuma attack were Chloe Latcham and Kassidy Mathes, who chased home a run with her base knock.
Jordan Ranfield added a stolen base to Montezuma’s offensive attack.
