The sizzling serving of Shelby Conger and strong play at the net by the Bravettes in general powered the Bravettes past Colfax-Mingo, 3-0, Monday evening, Sept. 16, in Montezuma.
Scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-18 as the Bravettes won for the fourth time in five matches and lifted their overall record to 9-6.
Conger was 23-for-23 in serving, including a stunning eight aces.
Ashlyn Krousie was 14-for-15 with two ace serves, and led the Bravettes with eight kills and eight digs.
Conger had five kills and Montezuma’s only block of the match against the Tigerhawks, who fell to 1-8 on the season.
Six Bravettes had three or more kills on the match. In addition to those by Krousie and Conger, Waverly Roorda had four, and Dylan Holland, Korinn Kehoe and Shanae Wetering had three each.
Libero Maddy McKeag added seven digs to the Montezuma effort.
Roorda had 16 assists and Katie Reynolds had five.
UP NEXT – The Bravettes are in the Ballard tournament in Huxley starting at 9 Saturday morning. There, they’ll face some larger schools. But, their first three opponents in pool play, Johnston, Ballard and Woodward-Granger, are all at or very near the .500 mark on the season, so the Bravettes should be able to compete as well as work on improving their game.
