The varsity Bravettes got deep into a game against a strong team, but still came out on the short end against North Mahaska, 11-6, at home on Wednesday evening, June 2.
The Bravettes plated three runs in the fourth inning to tie the score at 6-6.
It stayed that way in the fifth, but the Warhawks put up three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to take the win.
North Mahaska left town with a 3-1 record.
Kallie Robison pitched all seven innings for the Bravettes. Of the 11 runs scored against her, just two were earned. Montezuma made eight errors.
Robison didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight.
Katie Reynolds went three-for-four for Montezuma with a double and three runs batted in. She also was two-for-two in stolen bases. The Bravettes stole five in all, on five tries.
Robison went two-for-four at the plate.
Jadyn Shearer had one hit, a double, and drove in two runs.
Izzy Roorda and Kalynn Wanders each had a hit for Montezuma, which stood at 1-5 overall after the loss.
Zoe Deucore was three-for-five for the Warhawks, with a triple and a solo home run.
Regan Grewe also went three-for-five, with a pair of doubles.
Madison McKay started and picked up the pitching win for North Mashaska after firing four innings. She walked three and struck out six.
