Bravettes push third-rated cc team

SULLY – Montezuma’s girls gave third-ranked Pekin a push at the Lynnville-Sully Invitational Cross Country Meet on Thursday, Sept. 16 at Diamond Trail Golf Course.

The Bravettes scored 65 points to place second to Pekin’s 31 on the hilly course, which was run in 80-degree weather.

The Bravettes had five medalists, including Ellen Cook, 9th, Alivia Cline, 12th, Mia Boulton, 13th, Madison Johannes, 16th, and Haley Van Der Hart, 20th.

The Braves ran short-handed, but still got a team finish, with Jayden Ross leading the way with 27th place.

The junior high runners also competed, but a malfunction of a timing device has delayed the release of results. They will be passed along later.

Colton Benson works hard at the Lynnville-Sully meet.

UP NEXT – Montezuma is at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday, Sept. 21.
