THORNBURG – The softball Bravettes broke a 2-2 tie by scoring three runs in the fourth inning, then pulled away with a four-run sixth in a 10-2 victory over Tri-County on Friday, June 18.
The victory lifted Montezuma to 7-13 overall, including 3-7 in South Iowa Cedar League play.
Montezuma outhit the Trojans 11 to 7, and was guilty of just one error, compared to four by Tri-County.
Izzy Roorda went three-for-three at the plate. She hit a double, stole a base and knocked in three runs.
Katie Reynolds was two-for-three with a stolen base and two RBIs.
Jadyn Sharer had two hits, including a double, and batted in three runs.
Madison Van Zee had one hit.
Tia Shaffer had a hit and two runs battted in, and Laila Kercheval had one hit.
Kallie Robison pitched the seven-inning distance for the win. She gave up seven hits and two runs, both earned. She walked two and struck out six.
Tri-County fell to 1-12 overall and 1-9 in SICL play.
