Bravettes sizzle against Moravia, 79-25

MONTEZUMA – With post-season play just ahead, the Montezuma Bravettes put on an offensive clinic in a 79-25 run past Moravia in non-conference play at home on Monday evening, Feb. 3.

The Bravettes poured in 36 points in the first period of play on their way to quarter leads of 36-4, 55-13 and 70-22.

The Bravettes were passing and shooting extremely well. They assisted 21 of their 30 field goals and shot .545 from the field, including 15-for-32 from the three-point line.

In fact, senior guard Ellen Cook broke the school record for career assists as she sailed past the 285 mark.

Four Bravettes scored in double figures and a fifth had nine points.

Ellen Cook led with 21 points, including 7-for-15 shooting.

Vivian Cook scored 17 and Shiressa Wetering had 12.

Syd Burgess scored 10 and had a double-double as she added 10 rebounds.

Claire Erselius, a fifth starter, just missed twin digits with 9 points.

The win lifted Montezuma to 14-4 on the season.

Moravia fell to 10-10.

UP NEXT – The Bravettes host HLV for their final SICL action on Tuesday, Feb. 4. On Friday, they visit unbeaten Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, the number #1 team in Class 2A.
