Bravettes sweep past Sigourney

SIGOURNEY – The volleyball Bravettes remained unbeaten in SICL matches Monday, Oct.4, beating Sigourney 3-0.

Montezuma won 25-21 and 25-18 and 25-13.

It was a great night of volleyball for Montezuma,” said Bravettes Coach Rylie Little.

The first set was tough. We battled, then came out strong the next two,” she said.

We are ready to take on North Mahaska on Tuesday night.”

The Bravettes were efficient in this match. Their attack/kill ratio was .226, compared to Sigourney’s .059.

Montezuma’s servers were putting the ball into play, as opposed to slamming it over the net, trying for aces. The Bravettes didn’t have an ace serve, but were good on 70 of 73 serves, a very high .959 percentage.

Shanae Wetering led Montezuma with 12 kills, but Coral Lowry, Kallie Robison, Korrin Kehoe and Izzy Roorda all were between four and eight.

Katie Reynolds had 36 assists.

Montezuma went to 12-7 overall with the win, and to 6-0 in league matches.

Sigourney fell to 13-9 overall, which includes a 7-3 mark in SICL matches.

It was the start of a busy week for the Bravettes, which will include at least six matches.

Sigourney won the frosh-soph match 2-1, and the junior varsity contest, 2-0.
