CONRAD – This time, a long ride home wasn’t so bad for the Bravettes varsity softball team.
That’s because Montezuma won, 6-1, the third Bravettes victory against 10 defeats.
The game was played Tuesday night, June 8.
The Bravettes had been playing some strong teams, both inside and outside the South Iowa Cedar League.
In BCLUW, Montezuma faced a team that came in with an 0-9 record. And, the Bravettes pretty much had their way after taking a 3-0 lead in the third inning.
The Bravettes made it 5-1 by adding two runs in the fourth, and pitcher Kallie Robison maintained Montezuma’s edge by throwing a four-hitter.
Montezuma led 9-4 in hits, went five-for-five in stolen bases, and was guilty of just one error.
Katie Reynolds was two-for-four with a run batted in and went two-for-two on stolen bases.
Jadyn Sharer was two-for-four at the dish, hit a double and knocked in a run.
Kailey Shaffer was two-for-four, with an RBI and a stolen base.
Izzy Roorda had one hit, two runs batted in and a stolen base.She also handled 10 total chances in a busy night at second base.
Laila Kercheval and Abby Pope each had one hit, and Haylee Walters, who was a courtesy runner, stole a base.
Robison pitched all seven innings, allowing one unearned run in addition to scattering the four BCLUW hits. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.
