The volleyball Bravettes got some valuable pre-SICL tourney experience by going 3-2 at the Martensdale-St. Mary’s Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 12.
In so doing, the Bravetted evened their season record at 15-15.
Montezuma beat Earlham, Pleasantville and the host school, while falling to Southeast Warren and Van Meter.
“I think overall we played well,” said Bravettes Coach Katie Dunlap.
“The two matches we lost were close and we could have won.”
Ashlyn Krousie led the Bravettes with 33 kills and 36 digs.
Shelby Conger was top server at 54-for-58, with five ace serves.
Dylan Holland led the team with 12 blocks.
Waverly Roorda had 40 assists, and was 39-41 serving, with three aces, as she and Conger were really strong in that category.
UP NEXT – The Bravettes were to open SICL pool play at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14 against English Valleys. That match will be in Belle Plaine, with the host school awaiting the winner in the night’s second match.
The tourney continues Thursday with west division schools hosting, with locations to be determined by Monday’s results.
