The Bravettes don’t often get a chance to “walk off” North Mahaska, but they did it at home, 7-6, on Friday evening, June 14.
The Warhawks scored twice in their half of the seventh inning to take a 6-5 lead.
But the Bravettes rallied with two in their half of the inning to grab the victory.
Montezuma outhit its visitors 8-7 and played errorless softball.
Getting two hits each were Chloe Snook, Madison Van Zee and Kam Schmidt.
Snook hit a double.
Getting one hit each were Ellen Cook and Lauryn Larmore. Each girl drove in a run. Izzy Roorda also was credited with a run batted in and she added a stolen base.
Sydnee Burgess worked a complete game for the pitching victory. She gave up seven hits and 6 runs, five of them earned. She walked eight and struck out seven.
The win brought the Bravettes to 5-6 on the season.
North Mahaska fell to 5-10.
