Bravettes win 20th game, 75-29

The Montezuma Bravettes moved smartly into Friday’s semifinals with a 75-29 win over Midland of Wyoming Tuesday night, Feb. 14, in Montezuma.

The Bravettes, now 20-3, will remain at home for the semifinals tilt against Springville, which starts at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Bravettes checked a lot of positive boxes in rolling to this victory.

Montezuma led 19-4, 39-13 and 50-21 at the quarter breaks before finishing off the game with a 15-8 fourth quarter.

Guards Madison Johannes and Mia Boulton each scored 15 points. Johannes led with 8 rebounds and Boulton dished 9 assists.

Claire Erselius scored 13 for the Bravettes, and Shiressa Wetering dropped in 9 points.

Johannes droped in 5-of-6 from the field, all three-pointers. The Bravettes shot 17-for-33 on three-pointers, which is excellent at any level of play.

Boulton was 5-for-8 shooting on her way to 15 points, and Erselius was 3-for-4.

Montezuma made just 8 turnovers, to 22 by Midland.

The Bravettes led 28-18 in rebounding, with the five-foot Johannes leading Montezuma with 8.

The Bravettes assisted 17 of their 24 field goals, Boulton leading with 9.

Midland closed a 10-13 campaign.
