The Montezuma Braves scored five touchdowns in the first 8:08 of play and rolled to a 73-32 football win over Winfield-Mt. Union on Friday evening, Sept. 4.
The victory came in Montezuma’s homecoming game, played in perfect 70-degree weather in front of a big crowd at Badger-Gabriel Field.
Braves quarterback Eddie Burgess threw for five touchdowns, ran for four and returned a kickoff for yet another. The Braves led 35-8 after one quarter, and 52-16 at halftime.
The win lifted Montezuma to 2-0 on the season, while Winfield-Mt. Union stands at 1-1.
