Burgess reaches out to parents, guardians

On behalf of myself and the entire athletic department, I would like to welcome you to the start of the 2022-23 school year. I look forward to working collaboratively with each program and am committed to creating a partnership with you to ensure the success and growth for all our students in their educational and athletic journey.

We strive to be an extension of the classroom by displaying character and integrity in all we do. Hopefully, you can become as actively involved in this process as your schedule allows.

Blue & White and Fine Arts boosters could use your assistance.

All fall coaches should have had some form of a parent meeting with the cancellation of our Gatorade Sports Kickoff.

We want to ensure our students meet school and athletic expectations while flourishing in their activities of choice. We are all very proud of the programs we have at Montezuma. We want the athletes to be the very best they can be, and excel not only as an athlete, but also as a person. I believe the experiences students get from extracurriculars help create some of their greatest attributes for the life ahead.

Also, please remember to use the 24 hour rule if your child is frustrated with a situation during their athletic career. Students must attend half the school day to be eligible to participate in games and practices. Special circumstances can be approved if communication is made with Mr. O’Rourke or myself.

Thank you for your support as we begin this exciting journey together.

Sincerely,

Tim Burgess

Editor’s note: This letter from Tim Burgess also included news about the new gate fees for junior high and junior varsity. We have taken that out and made a separate story about it.
