The last game didn’t have a happy ending for the Bravettes, but Coach Janel Burgess said coaching them was a joy.
“The Well proved to be another great adventure for our team,” the coach said.
“We are proud of our effort, our fight,” she said.
“Our defense was very solid, but we needed to finish each possession with rebounds, which was very hard in the fourth quarter,” Burgess said.
Saint Ansgar made late free throws to pull away to a 51-46 victory on Wednesday, March 4, in the Class 1A quarterfinals at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
“This team was a joy to coach. They worked extremely hard and grew in so many ways,” Burgess said.
“All of the girls learned new roles and played them extremely well down the stretch,” she said.
“The year was another one to create memories, lead like true Bravettes and be amazing role models for our young people,” the coach said.
“We are blessed to have had the season we enjoyed.”
