C-M beats Bravettes 4-0 in crisp game

A three-run third inning by Colfax-Mingo proved decisive as the Tigerhawks beat Montezuma 4-0 in a sharp softball game on the Bravettes’ home field on Wednesday, June 22.

The records are different – Colfax-Mingo is 13-4, to Montezuma’s 7-14 – but the teams were a good match in this fast-moving game.

There were no bases on balls issued by either pitcher. The teams made just one error each. There were no stolen bases. And each side made two sacrifice hits.

The difference: Perhaps a few more opportunities on the basepaths for Colfax-Mingo, which outhit Montezuma 8-5.

Jadyn Sharer went 3×3 at the plate for Montezuma, with a double and a stolen base.

The other two Bravettes hits were by Madison Van Zee and Tia Shaffer.

Charlotte Donahue went 3×4 for the Tigerhawks, with a triple, a run batted in and two runs scored.

Joslyn Chadwick had one hit, a double, and drove in a run.

Montezuma pitcher Kallie Robison worked all seven innings, allowing eight hits. She didn’t walk and batter and struck out four.

Colfax-Mingo pitcher Kylie Doty also threw also seven innings, giving up five hits and no walks. She struck out five.
