PELLA – Central College sophomore Riley Gatton from Montezuma helped out in a pair of Dutch wins last week.

She scored two points and grabbed one rebound in a 93-76 Central win at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

On Saturday, Jan. 30, she played a few important minutes in the first quarter of Central’s 69-54 home win over Loras College.

A pressing Loras team jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter lead, but Gatton came off the brench to help break the press. Central closed the gap to a point by the end of the quarter, then dominated the game.

It was the first Central win over Loras in the last 11 meetings between the teams. Lynnville-Sully’s Carson Fisk and North Mahaska’s Kassidi Steel are playing some major roles for a deep Central team.

The 3-0 Dutch have a big home game against Simpson on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
