The Montezuma Bravettes may not have the most formidable record (7-15), but they’ve got a resume that shows they have improved all season.

And now, teams might not be crazy about being half the game against them in post-season play.

North Mahaska edged Montezuma, 2-1, on Friday, June 24, on the Bravettes’ field.

For the record, it was the sixth one-run loss of the season for the Bravettes and the second against the Warhawks.

This time, North Mahaska scored both its runs in the first inning, and pitcher Morgan Hudson made them stand up by spinning a nifty four-hitter.

Hudson walked three and struck out 12.

Kallie Robison pitched well for the Bravettes, scattering seven hits over seven innings. She struck out six and didn’t walk a batter. As a batter, she also had one of Montezuma’s hits.

Jadyn Sharer had one hit for the Bravettes and drove in Montezuma’s run, which came in the fourth inning.

Tia Shaffer had reached on an error and scored the run.

Chloe Snook had one hit, drew a walk and stole a base.

Kaprice Wearmouth had another of Montezuma’s hits.

The Bravettes again were sharp on defense, with just one error.

As noted, the loss dropped the Bravettes to 5-17.

North Mahaska is 10-9.
