Coach excited about Bravettes’ speed

If you looked at the “Summer Sports Schedules” on Montezuma Magazine last week, you might have thought the high school softball team didn’t have its usual number of games schedules.

And, you would be right.

Softball Coach Jeremy Van Zee contacted us Sunday evening – with 16 additional dates – which we’ve added in.

In addition, he had a few things to say about the varsity Bravettes.

We return eight of our nine starters from last year, which is pretty awesome,” he said.

All the girls have seen varsity experience now and we hope we can build on that.”

We are really excited about the speed that we have on our team this year,” Van Zee said.

Kallie Robison will once again be in the circle for us as a junior. She will see a majority of the innings this year as the pitcher. This will be her fourth year in this role, so we are looking for some big things from her,” the coach said.

We look to improve defensively this year as we have a year under our belts and everyone has worked really hard this off season to make improvements,” he said.

Putting the ball in play and putting some pressure on the defense will be key to our success from an offensive standpoint.”
