The state champion Braves boys basketball team has received congratulations from many. Here are a few that came in to Montezuma Community Schools:
From Mike Hilmer, head boys basketball coach at North Linn:
“Congratulations to Montezuma on the Class 1A boys basketball championship. Disappointed for my guys that I love so much and wish I could have found a way to coach them a few points better on Friday.”
“But, happy for the great coaches, players and community of Montezuma. Great people!”
From Derrick Dengler, regarding Pella’s win:
“Yesterday (Friday, March 12) was pretty cool for a lot of reasons, but a unique one was winning it the same day as Coach (Derek) Schulte’s Pella team. Big impact on me and the Montezuma basketball program!”
From Derek Schulte, in answer to Dengler’s note:
“Thank you! Very happy for Coach Dengler, the Braves and the Monte community! Well-deserved title!”
Montezuma also received and shared congratulatory notes from the English Valleys and Colfax-Mingo boys programs.
