December Wednesdays to be early out

Montezuma Stakeholders –

As a school system, we are continuing to closely monitor the rise in COVID cases in the community and county. This increase has caused additional families to choose the online learning option for their children.

One of the challenges that comes with online learning is the need for additional preparation time for classroom teachers. Teachers are now required to not only prepare daily lessons for students attending face to face, but also students utilizing the remote learning option.

Due to these additional time commitments, the district administration proposed a schedule change to the district Board of Directors. The board of directors approved the following changes to the school schedule:

During December, the district will have a 2:30 p.m. dismissal every Wednesday for all students. This means that starting Wednesday, December 2nd, and continuing on the 9th and 16th, all students will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m.

Transportation schedules will be adjusted accordingly. The district will re-evaluate the current local and state situation at the December 16th board meeting and determine whether to continue with these early dismissals after December.

In addition, a reminder that Montezuma CSD will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd for Holiday Break. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

As you know, the situation in our state is changing very rapidly. If the district needs to change the delivery format of instruction, please know that we will send messages via mass email/text/phone calls, post announcements on the district website as well as district social media pages.

As I have stated before, thank you for your support and trust in the Montezuma CSD to provide an effective, safe, and healthy learning environment for all staff and students.

Sincerely,

Nathan Wood
