Defense helps JV Bravettes even mark

By Coach Kevin Gartman

MARENGO – The Montezuma Bravettes JV team won 29-16 at Iowa Valley in a basketball doubleheader on Monday night, Dec. 7.

Montezuma opened with pressure defense, forcing turnovers that led to easy points in transition.

After opening an early 14-2 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Bravettes kept an even pace with the Tigers from that point forward, and came away 29-16 victors.

Alivia Cline led the team with 10 points, Kallie Robison added 6, and Jordan Ranfeld contributed 5 to the cause.

The Bravettes forced 31 turnovers with 17 steals and 12 additional deflections, with Camryn Brennan coming away with 5 steals to go along with Alivia Cline’s 6.

The win moved Montezuma to 2-2 on the season, with a second game coming in as many days at HLV on Tuesday as the Bravettes look to continue playing hard, gritty basketball.
