Defense spurs JV girls past Sigourney

By Coach Kevin Gartman

Seeking its first win of the season, the Bravettes JV basketball team came out hungry on the defensive end and created pressure to spur offense at the other end when they beat Sigourney 26-21 on Monday evening, Nov. 30.

Taking a halftime lead of 13-8, the Bravettes kept Sigourney at a 3-6 point distance for most of the second half despite a strong push with a full-court press from Sigourney toward the end of the game.

With the win, Montezuma improved to 1-2 on the season.

Isabella Roorda led the Bravettes with 10 points, Alivia Cline contributed 6, and Kallie Robison added 5.

Defensively, the Bravettes produced 10 steals, with 9 additional deflections.

Montezuma’s next JV girls game takes place at Iowa Valley on Monday Dec. 7th.
