Below is a letter that Montezuma teacher and coach Pat O’Brien wrote before resigning as the Braves’ football coach:
Dear Parents of Montezuma football players, and fans,
I wanted to let you know that I will be stepping down as head football coach. Over the past two years, I have learned so much about these great young men, this community, and this school.
I am grateful to get the opportunity to get to work with these young men and look forward to watching them become fathers, husbands and role models.
The past two years I have taken a lot of time away from my family at home. I am now going to focus on giving that time back to my family.
I have taken a job back home for next fall.
Thank you for allowing me to help shape the young men in our school and our community. It has been a true honor!
Thank you!
Enjoy the journey!
