NEW SHARON – The Montezuma Bravettes JV team “played excellent team basketball” said Coach Kevin Gartman. The result was a resounding 54-17 win over North Mahaska Monday evening, Jan. 27.
“Our defensive pressure forced a handful of turnovers,” Gartman said. “Good ball movement offensively led to efficient shot selection.”
The Bravettes had quarter leads of 14-2, 31-7 and 43-14 in taking their season record to 13-0.
“Our first game against them found us winners of a lower-scoring match where shots were not falling, but the tide was turned on Monday,” Gartman said.
The Bravettes shot .477 from the field, and limited the Warhawks to .150 shooting.
Madison Johannes led with 14 points, five steals and four assists.
Alyssa Cine had 12 points and three assists.
Kierstyn Price scored nine points, and Korinn Kehoe snagged seven rebounds.
UP NEXT – The Bravettes play Friday at HLV in a half-game.
