DES MOINES – Montezuma senior Ellen Cook has been named a second-team all-state basketball player by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
She also was named to the Class 1A second team chosen by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. (See separate story).
Ellen led the Bravettes in scoring at 14.4 points per game, and in assists at 5.1 per contest. A guard, she was second on the team in rebounds at 5.7 per contest.
Ellen set school records for most steals in a game with 12, and career assists with 312.
Cook received the Iowa Bankers Association Award for Class 1A. She was presented that award at mid-court during a state tournament championship session by her father, Kyle Cook, of Montezuma State Bank.
She was a unanimous first team all-league player in the South Iowa Cedar League.
Ellen is headed for Drake University, where she will participate in cross country.
