Fast start keys 42-9 win by 7th girls

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade girls basketball team traveled to Marengo to play the Iowa Valley Tigers on Thursday, January 19.

The Bravettes used their pressure defense to jump to a 16-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The halftime score was 24-5. The final score was Bravettes 42, Tigers 9.

The Bravettes didn’t shoot at high percentage but did manage to get 76 shots. Monte was 20-76 (26%) from the field, 0-7 from long distance and 2-4 from the free throw line. Iowa Valley was 4-26 (15%) from the field and 1-2 from the free throw line.

Lauryn Larmore had a 20-20 triple double. She had 20 points, 20 rebounds, 10 steals, and 3 assists.

Ryanne Williams continues to improve for the Bravettes. Ryanne had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and a block. Sophia Semprini also continues to make strides each game. Soph had 8 points, 7 rebounds and a block.

Alexa Rose had 4 points and 3 steals. Olivia Latcham anchored the middle with 2 points, 6 rebounds and a block. Emma Snook had 6 rebounds.
