Like the ‘A’ team, the Montezuma junior high boys ‘B’ team started fast in its game against North Mahaska on Jan. 10.
The Braves led 22-11 at halftime on their way to a 42-23 win.
“We also got off to a quick start with consistent scoring in each quarter,” said Montezuma Coach Dennis Phelps.
“Our defensive end rebounding was solid all game,” the coach said.
“We have shown a ton of improvement since the first game we played before Christmas,” Phelps said. “We were only able to score in the teens during our first game.”
Rhett Pargeon led scoring in this game with 11 points, while Easton Hudnut and Damien Knox were close behind with 9 and 8, respectively.
Other scoring: Peyton Tindle 6, Linkin Bru 4, and Cade Stone and Isaac Wedgewood, 2 each.
Hudnut and Pargeon each cast in one three-point field goal.
