The Montezuma Bravettes 7th graders traveled to play the Baxter Bolts on January 16.
The Bolts had a very strong team that frustrated the Bravettes. The Bolts jumped to a 10-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Baxter swished a 3 at the halftime buzzer to take a 23-6 lead to the break.
The second half the Bolts continued to dominate. The final score was 42-12.
Monte shot 6-32 (19%) from the field and 0-7 from the free throw line. Baxter shot 20-62 (32%) from the field, 1-2 from the 3-point line and 1-6 from the free throw line.
The Bolts outrebounded the Bravettes 46-28. Monte had 28 turnovers while Baxter had 16 turnovers.
Alyssa Latcham scored 4 points and had 8 rebounds. Lucy Semprini had 4 points and a block. Aubree DeJoode had her best game with 2 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Abby Bos had 2 points. Lexi Urfer had 4 steals.
The Montezuma Bravettes 7th graders move to 4-5 on the season. Their next game will be January 23 at North Mahaska.
