BROOKLYN – The Bravettes faced an SICL field that had strong athletes throughout the 12-team field, and all faced powerful winds that blew through the grounds at the conference track meet on Tuesday, May 2.
Montezuma finished in the top third of the field, scoring a solid 96 points to trail only Lynnville-Sully (135) and North Mahaska (111).
The Bravettes won two events and managed to post season-bests in seven individual events.
Ellen Cook won the 1,500-meter run in 5:36.99.
Freshman Chloe Snook won the long jump at 15 feet, one inch.
Snook also placed second in the 400-meter dash.
Another second for Montezuma came in the non-scoring or JV 4×100 relay, from Addison Probasco, Hayley Burnett, Makenna Johannes and Haileah Eichenberger.
One of Montezuma’s personal bests was by Lily Ferry in the high jump, whose leap of 4 feet 8 topped her previous best mark of 4-6,
