THORNBURG – The softball Bravettes made it two in a row with a 7-3 win over Tri-County in the first game of a varsity doubleheader on Tuesday evening, June 30.
This game counted in the SICL standings. The second game did not.
The Bravettes scored four runs in the first and played add-on the rest of the way. The Trojans plated two in their half of the first, but Montezuma pitcher Kallie Robison held them to just one more run the rest of the way.
Robison pitched all seven innings. She gave up eight hits and all three runs she allowed were earned. She walked just one and struck out nine.
The Bravettes made just one error in this game.
Eighth-grade shortstop Jadyn Sharer and eighth-grade second baseman Izzy Roorda were the hitting stars for Montezuma.
Sharer went three-for-four with a double and a run batted in. She also stole two bases.
Roorda went two-for-three at the plate, including a double and an RBI. She stole a base
Chloe Latcham had one hit and one stolen base.
Katie Reynolds had a pair of stolen bases.
Kailey Shaffer drove in a run and stole a base.
Tia Shaffer had a stolen base.
The win lifted Montezuma to 6-4 on the season. Tri-County fell to 0-9.
