Girls CC should be good again

By Coach Kevin Gartman

Returning six of the seven varsity runners from last year’s SICL title cross country team, the Montezuma girls are poised to have another strong season with even more depth.

Three-time state qualifier Elise Boulton returns for her senior season, joined by two returning second team all-conference sophomore runners in Madison Johannes and Mia Boulton.

In addition to other returning varsity competitors in junior Rebeka Teumer, junior Haley Van Der Hart and senior Carmen Klos, this senior class returns the most cross country experience of any class in recent memory.

Seniors Alyssa Cline and Katie Probasco are helping to guide the way for a large freshman group of runners set to make an impact. Joining the high school ranks from a team that placed seven of the top 10 junior high girls at conference are Alivia Cline, Makenna Johannes, Lydia Singleton, Camryn Brennan, and Ashlee Eilander.

With a strong and deep group of 13 runners, the Montezuma girls look for another strong year of competition, reaching beyond last year’s successes toward new goals.
