THORNBURG – The Bravettes built their winning streak to three straight with a 17-8 run past Tri-County in the second game of a softball doubleheader on Monday, June 30.
This game, which was considered a non-conference clash, was tied 5-5 after five innings. But Montezuma put up 12 runs in the final two frames, including an eight-run seventh inning.
The Bravettes rapped out 14 hits, including three each by Katie Reynolds and Chloe Latcham.
Reynolds drove in two runs with hers, as did Latcham.
Stroking two hits each were Kalynn Wanders, Kailey Shaffer, Izzy Roorda and Kassidy Mathes.
Shaffer’s hits included a double and she drove in a run. Wanders drove in a run, Roorda hit a double, and Mathes had an RBI.
The Bravettes stole 11 bases, including three by Mathes and two each by Reynolds and Roorda.
Abby Pope pitched the seven-inning distance to get the win. She allowed 12 Tri-County hits and eight runs, just four of which were earned. She walked three and struck out four.
The victory pushed the Bravettes to 7-4 on the season, while Tri-County fell to 0-10.
