Girls drop a 7th grade battle in Pella

PELLA – The Dec. 9 girls game at Pella Christian was a battle of two nice 7th grade teams.

The Bravettes led a back and forth first quarter, 8-6. and had a 14-10 halftime lead.

But, the Eagles rallied in the 2nd half to win, 32-28.

The Bravettes, normally a good free throw shooting team, struggled at the line, going 8-24. This was really the difference in the game.

The Bravettes shot 10-40 from the field for 25%. The Eagles were 14-42 from the for 36% and 2-9 from the line for 22%.

The Eagles edged the Bravettes in the rebound battle, 36-33. Monte had 18 turnovers and Pella Christian had 23.

Vivian Cook led the scoring with 24 points. She also had 3 assists and 3 steals. Sydnee Burgess had 6 points, 5 rebounds and a block.

Leah Urfer had 3 points, 10 rebounds and a block. Rylee Wolford had 3 points. Tegan Barnhart hit two free throws, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
The 7th grade team falls to 2-1. They play at Sully on Monday and at Keota on Tuesday.
