Sigourney took its record to 6-1 with a 13-2 victory over the Bravettes in varsity softball action at home on Thursday, June 25.
This game was close for a while. The Bravettes scored their two runs to cut a Sigourney lead to two. But the Savages plated three runs in the sixth inning, then knocked in six in the seventh to pull away.
The Bravettes had six hits, including two by Carissa Van Zee, who stroked a double.
Chloe Latcham had one hit and drove in a run.
Getting singles were Jadyn Sharer, Izzy Roorda and Kassidy Mathes.
Megan Stuhr led a 13-hit Sigourney attack with three hits, including a home run and a double. She drove in four runs.
Madelynn Hornback pitched the seven-inning distance for Sigourney, and didn’t allow an earned run.
Kallie Robison pitched all seven for the Bravettes, Three of the 13 runs she allowed were unearned. She walked four and struck out five.
The defeat dropped the Bravettes to 4-3 on the season.
Sigourney beat the Bravettes 5-0 in JV action.
