Girls get 13-4 win over South Tama

The Bravettes got the lead and kept adding on.

Result: A 13-4 varsity softball win over South Tama at home on Thursday evening, June 3.

The win was Montezuma’s second of the season, against six defeats.

The Bravettes kept the offensive pressure on in this one, lining 12 hits and going five-for-five in steals and stolen base attempts.

South Tama, 0-9, scored three runs in the first, but Montezuma answered with two in the bottom of that inning, then took control with a five-run second inning.

Montezuma also applied heat with its defense. The Bravettes were charged with just two errors, and pitcher Kallie Robison scattered eight hits over seven innings. She walked two and struck out nine.

Izzy Roorda swung heavy metal for the Bravettes. She went three-for-three, with a pair of doubles and six (6!) runs batted in.

Madison Van Zee was three-for five also.

Laila Kercheval went two-for-four with a pair of RBIs.

Katie Reynolds’ hit was a double, which drove home a run.

Robison chased home a run with a base hit.

Kailey Shaffer and Kalynn Wanders had one hit each.

The home standing Bravettes scored in all six of their innings.

UP NEXT – The Montezuma girls host HLV on Friday evening, June 4. The boys baseball games have been postponed because of a scheduling conflict involving the umpires.
