MARENGO – It was another amazing night for a track meet at the Rick Wanamaker Coed Relays on Thursday, May 9.
Even though the Bravettes ran a different meet line-up, they were still able to put up some strong performances and come away with a 2nd place team finish.
Sophia Semprini and Mya Smothers continued to do well in the discus, which is always a great way to start the night.
The girls filled open events with only a few teams to score points and try a few different things.
Alexa Rose went after it and ran her first 3,000 to finish 2nd; she also was part of a solid shuttle crew and ran the 1,500.
Hayden Sutherland continues to improve and finished 4th in the 100 and 2nd in the 100 hurdles. In the hurdles, she has improved by almost five seconds this year!

Ellen Cook ran a lifetime best in the 800 to finish 2nd!
Chloe Snook ran a season best in the 200, and she and Ryanne Williams ran solid 400s to go 3-4 in the open 400.
The 1,500 was a race of grit, and Sophia ran another lifetime best and fought to finish 2nd!
The 4×100 team ran another season-best performance and beat the Belle Plaine team that beat them at the SICL meet.
Overall, this was a great meet. We had kids step up to fill events and push themselves. This is the time of the year we need to put it all together, and the girls are in a great place physically and mentally.
Another highlight was the girls (Belle Plaine girls, too) taking the time to honor the Iowa Valley AD, who is stepping down as AD to help care for his wife. We have great kids who care for others, and it was a moving moment I will not forget.
