MILO – The big news for the Bravettes at the Southeast Warren tournament on Saturday, May 29, was that they picked up their first victory.
It was a 5-2 win over Southwest Valley of Corning in the middle game of three that Montezuma played on that day.
The other two games were defeats, as a pair of buzzsaws, Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas, went through the Bravettes, 10-0 and 9-0, respectively.

The Bravettes scored four of their five runs during the final three innings to pick up their first win of the season.
They also played errorless ball in the field.
Montezuma had a seven-hit attack, with Izzy Roorda going 2×4 with a double and two runs batted in.
Jadyn Sharer had one hit, a double.
Kallie Robison hit a double and drove in a run.
Katie Reynolds had one hit, drove in a run, and stole three bases.
The Bravettes flashed their speed, going seven-for-seven on steal attempts.
Robison pitched the seven-inning distance for the win. She scattered five hits and yielded two unearned runs. She didn’t walk a batter, and struck out six.
Southwest Valley stands at 1-4.
Twin Cedars 10
Bravettes 0 (5 innings).
Twin Cedars carried the number 11 ranking in the pre-season ratings, and for a reason.
The Sabers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and held Montezuma to a pair of hits.
Izzy Roorda had one of those hits and stole a base.
Laila Kercheval had the other hit.
Katie Reynolds, who was hit by a pitch, stole a base.
The Bravettes made nine errors in this game.
Robison pitched four innings, yielding nine hits and all 11 runs, just two of which were earned. She walked one and didn’t strike out a batter.
Abby Pope pitched one-third of an inning and was in the circle when Twin Cedars (4-3) plated its winning run.
Melcher-Dallas 9,
Montezuma 0
Melcher-Dallas (6-2) had a pitcher who brought some heat. The Bravettes managed four hits, to 11 by the opponent.
Jadyn Sharer was two-for-three with a double.
Kailey Shaffer and Katie Reynolds each went one-for-two.
Robison started and took the pitching defeat. She threw three innings, gave up six hits and six runs, five of which were earned. She walked two and struck out three.
Abby Pope pitched three innings, giving up five hits and three runs, two of them earned. She didn’t walk or strike out a batter.
The Bravettes emerged from the tournament with a record of 1-5.
