KEOTA – Montezuma’s previous 13 matches had the Bravettes more than prepared for a very young Keota team in the SICL volleyball opener on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The Bravettes were 3-0 winners over now-0-7 Keota. Scores were 25-8, 25-9 and 25-21.
Montezuma’s stat charts were balanced at the top (see below).
“We do have more girls contributing to our team success,” said Coach Katie Dunlap.
Ashlyn Krousie led with seven kills and 10 digs.
Waverly Roorda had 13 assists and Dylan Holland had two blocks.
The victory lifted the Bravettes to 8-6 overall on the season.
Montezuma has an SICL match at home against Colfax-Mingo on Monday, Sept. 16. Then, the Bravettes are looking at some really tough competition on Saturday, (Sept. 12) when Ballard hosts a multi-school event in Huxley.
“Yes, we have a very tough tournament ahead of us,” Dunlap said.
“Whether we win or lose, there are always things to learn from a match,” said the coach. “That’s what Saturday is all about . . .learning.”
Some of the teams involved at Saturday’s event, which starts at 9 a.m., are Grand View Christian, Johnston, North Polk, Pella, South Tama and Woodward-Granger.
