Here’s one for you, Bravettes fans: Montezuma played a solid game, end-to-end, hit Belle Plaine with an eight-run sixth inning, and won at home, 11-3, on Monday evening, June 21.
It was Montezuma’s first varsity softball win against Belle Plaine since June of 2015.
This game was a 3-3 tie through five innings. Then came the Montezuma explosion in the sixth, when the Bravettes simply kept the line moving.
Montezuma out-hit Belle Plaine 11-5.
Jadyn Sharer went three-for-four with a stolen base.
Katie Reynolds and Tia Shaffer each had two hits. Shaffer had a run batted in and a stolen base, while Reynolds hit a double and knocked in a run.
Izzy Roorda hit a double and drove in three runs.
Kallie Robison singled to drive in a run.
Madison Van Zee and Ellen Cook each had one hit, with Cook’s going for three bases.
Laila Kercheval and Kailey Shaffer each drove in two runs, although neither was credited with a base hit.
Kalynn Wanders and Jordan Ranfeld each has a stolen base, as the Bravettes were successful on all four of their steal attempts.
Robison pitched the seven-inning distance for Montezuma, scattering five hits. She allowed three runs, two of them earned. She walked one and struck out three.
Montezuma jumped to 8-13 on the season, which includes a 4-7 mark in SICL play.
Belle Plaine stands at 11-10 and 7-4.
