Girls roll in league opener, 70-11

The varsity Bravettes basketball team rolled past HLV, 70-11, on Tuesday evening, Nov. 29, in the SICL conference opener for both girls basketball teams.

The win put the Bravettes at 2-0 overall.

Five Montezuma players scored in double figures for a Bravattes team that splashed down 13 three-point baskets.

The double figures scorers: Madison Johannes with 18, Mia Boulton with 14, Jadyn Sharer with 13, Ellen Cook with 12 and Shiressa Wetering with 10.

Johannes had a spectacular game. The senior guard’s 18 points were all on three-pointers. Sh went 6-for-8 from behind the arc.

She also ran down four rebounds, had three steeals and dished four assists.

Montezuma led 31-7 at halftime, then outscored the Warriors 49-4 in the second half.

The Bravettes assisted 18 of their 26 field goals.

UP NEXT – Montezuma is at Lynnville-Sully on Friday, Dec. 2.
