Girls run into a tough South Tama team

TAMA – Montezuma again took on a larger school as the Bravettes continued to prepare for their conference season.

South Tama took its record to 5-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over Montezuma on Monday, Aug. 29. Scores were 25-18, 25-23 and 25-12.

South Tama had clear advantages in several statistical categories.

The Trojans served at a .904 clip, with 16 aces. The Bravettes were at .745, with nine ace serves.

South Tama led 29-18 in kills, and 31-12 in digs.

Elizabeth De Jong had nine digs for Montezuma. Kalynn Wanders had eight assists and Laila Kercheval had seven kills.

The defeat dropped Montezuma to 2-3 on the season.

TOURNEY TONIGHT – Montezuma hosts a round robin tournament starting at 5 p.m. this evening (Tuesday, Aug. 30).
