Make that five major invitational wins for the Bravettes!
What made this one special: It was on Montezuma’s home track.
Montezuma ran away with the team title in the Darrell Brand Coed Invitational meet on Monday, May 10.
The girls won eight of the 12 individual events, and four of the seven relays.
In so doing, the Bravettes piled up 197.33 team points, to 116 by second-place Belle Plaine.
“The home meet is always a great chance to showcase all of the hard work the girls have put in during the season,” said Bravettes Coach Megan Carlson. “The weather was wonderful and the girls were competing hard.”
Montezuma won the 4×400, 4×800 and 1,600 distance medley relays, along with the sprint medley.
On the individual side, Katie Reynolds won both short dashes.
Laila Kercheval and Elise Boulton ran one-two in the 400.
Mia Boulton won over 800 meters, and Haley Van Der Hart took the 1,500-meter run.
Coral Lowry won the 100-meter hurdles event. “It was the first meet all season that every girl was healthy and able to compete!” Carlson said. “With one regular season meet remaining, the girls know they need to continue to run season-best times and place well in order to move on to the state meet.”
Elise Boulton won the 3,000, and Coral Lowry won the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.
UP NEXT – Montezuma’s teams are at the state qualifier meet in Belle Plaine, starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.
IF YOU’RE GOING – You must purchase tickets online before the meet. They will NOT be sold at the gate in Belle Plaine. (See the school’s website for details).
